The team at Forth Engineering are celebrating – after our managing director, Mark Telford, won a major industry accolade.
Mark – who established the business in 2000 – was named Business Person of the Year at the in-Cumbria Business Awards 2024.
He was up against tough competition, with Sellafield CEO, Euan Hutton, and Rachel Bell, Head of Marketing and Business Development at Lake District Estates, also among the shortlisted finalists.
Mark was presented with his award by TV personality, Zara Janjua, at a glitzy ceremony held at Dalston Hall Hotel in Carlisle.
He said: “This award is for the team. No one person is greater or more important than our shared vision and goal. Everything we achieve, we achieve together.
“Forth has been on a considerable journey and I have been reflecting on this as we enter our 25th year of business.
“Innovation and a ‘yes we can’ attitude has always been at the heart of how we approach the challenges that clients ask for our support in solving.
“That has allowed us to grow and invest in our team, premises and expansion – something of which I am incredibly proud.”
From its bases in Flimby, Cleator Moor, and Barrow, Forth provides innovative engineering solutions to clients including Sellafield, BAE Systems, NRS (formerly Magnox), EDF, Spirit Energy, Rolls Royce and One Subsea, as well as global markets in marine, renewables and agricultural markets.
In the last 12 months Forth has increased turnover by 50%, profits have increased and the firm’s workforce has grown by 20%, creating more jobs for local people.
The firm has invested heavily in new premises by opening a third site at Cleator Moor’s Leconfield estate and opened an in-house fabrication unit in Barrow which recently announced plans to double the size of its team to cope with rising demand.
Mark said: “We have very recently entered our 25th year of business and have plenty planned between now and our big anniversary in November 2025.
