THE boss of Forth today issued a new call for displaced team members from Chapel Bank Engineering to get in touch.
It was announced last week that the company, formerly known as TSP Engineering, had been placed into administration, with 130 jobs affected.
Forth made an immediate decision to try and help as many as possible, taking to social media to encourage anyone impacted to get in touch.
That led to an influx of CVs and emails from individuals wishing to apply for the various opportunities at the business, which has secured a number of recent significant contract wins.
Managing Director Mark Telford said the company had acted quickly to do what it could in difficult circumstances: “We’ve always said that people come first – whether that’s our own team, our clients or the wider community.
“We knew this news would hit hard, and we wanted to show those affected that they’re not alone.
“We’ve been encouraged by the calibre of the people who’ve got in touch. There’s a great deal of talent in this region – and we’re actively looking to grow our team as we take on new contracts.
“If we can provide opportunities to people facing uncertainty, we absolutely will, and I’d encourage anyone with relevant skills who has not yet been in touch to contact us. We’re a growing business and it is always good to have names on our radar.”
Chapel Bank Engineering had been trading since 1939 under various ownership and names and offered heavy engineering services in the nuclear, oil, gas and steel sectors.
It was known as TSP Engineering until it was sold to Workington Engineering last September. Administrators Leonard Curtis have been appointed to handle the matter.
Forth is continuing to welcome applications from individuals with engineering expertise, particularly those with backgrounds in accredited environments. The company has several live vacancies and expects to recruit further in the coming months.
Mark added: “We’d encourage anyone with relevant experience to reach out. It’s never easy dealing with sudden change, but we’re here – and we’re listening.”
Forth has three bases in Cumbria, at Maryportm Cleator Moor and Barro-in-Furness.
Anyone wishing to apply should email suzanne.kirkbride@forth.uk.com with a covering letter and CV or a summary of experience.
