🌟 Meet the Team – Mark Telford 🌟
To celebrate Forth’s 25th anniversary year, we’re excited to share insights into the people who make us who we are. First up, meet our Managing Director, Mark!
Q1. Name?
Mark Telford.
Q2. Position at Forth?
Managing Director.
Q3. Name a song that makes you happy?
Hole In My Shoe by Nigel Planter (Neil from The Young Ones).
Q4. Favourite meal?
Panacalty – fried bits of bacon and onions layered with sliced potatoes. This dish is a true “poor man’s meal.”
Q5. The best thing about working at Forth?
The team spirit we have and our drive to always deliver, regardless of the complexity of the client request.
Q6. A person or event in your life that’s had the most positive effect on you?
My dad, James, or Jim as he’s known. He had a hard life as the eldest of nine children and worked his fingers to the bone for his family. His ethos has always been that you don’t get anything for nothing, and you have to work hard to achieve things in life. This instilled in me a strong work ethic from a young age, and that’s why I started working at 13.
Q7. Your favourite quote?
“You can’t pay enough for your boots, your mattress, or your accountant.” You’re either in your boots or your bed, so they need to be as comfortable as possible. And it’s just as important to be comfortable with the person managing your finances.
Q8. Who are your dream celebrity dinner guests?
· Thomas Telford – a distant relative and one of the world’s greatest engineers, who built bridges, canals, and roads.
· Winston Churchill – a great leader I admire, even if he may be controversial.
· Freddie Mercury – I love that he lived a high-octane life to the max.
· Ricky Gervais – a comedy genius and always straight to the point.
· Professor Brian Cox – his knowledge of the universe and its workings would be fascinating.
· Greta Thunberg – her views would be interesting and would contrast with some of the other guests.
Imagine the electrically charged conversations around the table!
Q9. Outside of work, what do you enjoy?
Heading to the Isle of Man with my family. The Isle of Man is extremely relaxed and laid back, and everyone is really friendly. It’s steeped in history, and there’s so much to discover there.
Q10. Pineapple on pizza?
No – it should be banned!
